Garage Door Guys LAMenu

Garage door repair, same day across Los Angeles.

Before we leave, everyone who uses your door can open it again, from the keypad to the button in the car. If you can't be there, whoever is home can let us in.

The estimate is free and there's no charge to come and look. Nights and weekends cost the same as a weekday.

Open 24 hours, 7 days. A person answers the phone.

What we fix, and what we install

Start with the part that's giving you trouble.

We service the common opener brands: LiftMaster, Chamberlain, Genie, Craftsman, Linear and Marantec. If yours isn't on the list, call and ask.

Four rules on every job

  1. You get an arrival window by text. So does whoever is meeting us.
  2. Whoever lets us in doesn't approve the price. Only you do, by phone if you're not there.
  3. Before we leave, every way in is tested by whoever is home.
    • Remote
    • Keypad
    • Wall button
    • Car button
    • Release cord
  4. On a shared drive or a shared gate, the other households are told before we start and when we're done.

What happens after you call

The same six steps on every job, at any hour.

  1. You call and a person picks up. Or you send the form and we call you back.
  2. We check the whole door before we price anything, springs to opener.
  3. You get the price in writing before any work, with the repair option first.
  4. If something else turns up once the door is open, we stop and ask.
  5. We make the repair, balance the door and test the safety reverse.
  6. The old parts leave with us. Your receipt has the warranty on it.

If something we fixed fails

Call the same number and we come back. Every repair carries 1 year on parts and labor, and it's printed on your receipt. New doors carry the manufacturer's product warranty.

If it's the opener

We test the power, the photo-eyes, the gear and the logic board before anyone says the word new. You see the repair price first, and the worn part before we change it.

Every remote, keypad and button tested before we leave

A door isn't fixed until the people who use it can use it. Whoever is home tries every way in before we go, with us standing there.

  • Every remoteEach one in the house, including the one in the second car. Old ones cleared if you ask.
  • The keypadSet to the code you choose.
  • The wall buttonWith its lock and light settings, if it has them.
  • The button in the carPaired to the opener again.
  • The release cordSo you can open the door by hand in a power cut.

If someone else is meeting us

Your tenant, your mother, the cleaner or a neighbor can let us in and show us the problem. That's all they need to do.

Add their first name and mobile to the estimate form, or tell us when we call.

A new door for a garage people use every day

Before we price a door, we ask who uses the garage and what for.

Looking out from a garage set up as a home gym, the door raised overhead and a man standing at the threshold in the morning sun
The garage is a gym or a spare room
An insulated steel door. The room stays closer to the temperature of the house, and less street noise gets in.
Someone sleeps above it or next to it
A belt-drive opener, which runs far quieter than a chain. We balance the door too, so it doesn't bang when it closes.
It's dark in there in the daytime
A row of windows in the top section. Frosted glass lets the light in and keeps the inside out of view.
Several people come and go
A remote for every car and a keypad for whoever walks or bikes in. We set up each one and test it with you before we leave.
Ask for a price on a new doorPlenty of LA garages were built before 1960 with low headroom, so we measure yours on the first visit and price the door installed. Styles, materials and glass are on the new doors page.

Gate stuck, slow or ignoring the keypad

A gate that stops halfway, reverses on its own or ignores the keypad is usually the operator, a loop detector or a safety edge. We find out which before anything is replaced, and new gates come with the posts, the concrete and the power.

We come out all over Los Angeles County

Same rules in every part of town. Some of the neighborhoods:

What Los Angeles does to a garage door

Near the beach, salt air rusts springs, cables and hinges faster than inland, so we check those first. Valley heat is hard on opener boards and wood doors. And a lot of older garages, at the back of the lot or under a hillside house, have low headroom that decides which opener will fit.

Questions people ask before they call

The spring snapped. Can I lift the door by hand?

Don't. With the spring gone the door's full weight is on your hands, and the opener isn't built to lift it either. Leave it closed and call.

Is the estimate free at night too?

Yes. The estimate is free at any hour, and a repair at 2am costs what it costs at 2pm.

The opener whirs and the door won't budge.

Usually a broken spring, which leaves the opener trying to lift the door's full weight, or a stripped gear inside the unit. Stop pressing the button and call.

The remote stopped working but the wall button works.

Then the door is probably fine and the problem is the remote or the opener's receiver. Try a new battery first. If that doesn't do it, have every remote in the house ready when we come.

How long does a repair take?

Usually one visit. The springs, cables, rollers and hinges most doors need are on the truck, and if a part has to be ordered, you hear the price and the day first.

The door starts to close, then goes back up.

Almost always the photo-eyes at the bottom of the track. Something is in the beam, or one eye has been knocked out of line. If they're clear and it still reverses, the opener's force or travel setting needs adjusting.
