Garage door installation in Los Angeles, for the way you use the garage
Before we price a door, we ask who uses the garage and what for. Then we measure the opening and the headroom, and price the door installed.
The estimate is free and there's no charge to come and look. Nights and weekends cost the same as a weekday.
Open 24 hours, 7 days. A person answers the phone.

Styles, materials and glass
Steel comes plain, with raised panels or with a wood-grain finish. Real wood needs refinishing, and Valley heat is hard on it. Flush doors come smooth or with a horizontal line.
Glass goes in the top section. Clear glass lets in the most light. Frosted glass lets the light in and keeps the inside out of view.
Chosen for how the garage gets used
- The garage is a gym or a spare room
- An insulated steel door. The room stays closer to the temperature of the house, and less street noise gets in.
- Someone sleeps above it or next to it
- A belt-drive opener, which runs far quieter than a chain, and a door balanced so it doesn't bang when it closes.
- It's dark in there in the daytime
- A row of windows in the top section.
- Several people come and go
- A remote for every car and a keypad for whoever walks or bikes in. We set up each one and test it with you before we leave.

Measuring the opening
Plenty of LA garages were built before 1960 with low headroom, so we measure yours on the first visit and price the door installed. Headroom is the space between the top of the opening and the ceiling, and it decides which track and which opener will fit. We also measure the room at the sides for the tracks. A garage under a hillside house can be tight on both.
How a garage door installation goes
- We ask who uses the garage and what for, then measure the opening, the headroom and the side room.
- You get the price of the door installed, in writing, before anything is ordered.
- On the day, we take the old door down and put the new one up, with springs matched to its weight.
- We balance the door and test the safety reverse with the opener.
- Every remote, the keypad and the wall button are set up and tested with whoever is home.
Why one new door costs more than another
- Size
- A single door or a double, and any opening that isn't a standard size.
- Material and insulation
- Single-layer steel, insulated steel, a wood-grain finish or real wood.
- Glass
- A row of windows in the top section, clear or frosted.
- The garage
- Low headroom can call for a different track, and a new opener can be part of the job.
New doors carry the manufacturer's product warranty.
Questions about new doors
Repair it or replace it?
If it's one damaged section or a worn part, a repair usually makes sense. When the whole door is the better buy, you get both prices. Replacing a door in the West Valley? See garage door installation in Woodland Hills.
Do I need a new opener too?
Not always. If your opener works and suits the new door, it stays. If it's old or loud, we price a new opener alongside, and you decide.
