Say what's stuck when you call

Say whether the door is stuck open or stuck shut, and whether a car is trapped inside. If you can't stay with an open garage, tell us who can meet us.

While you wait for us

  • Keep everyone away from the door, and move the car if it's parked outside.
  • If a spring has snapped, leave the door alone. Don't try to lift it by hand.
  • Don't keep pressing the button. An opener lifting a door with a broken spring can strip its gear.
  • If the door is off its track, don't run the opener. It can bring the door the rest of the way down.
  • Don't pull the release cord on a door that's stuck open with a broken spring. It can drop.

Doors that can't wait until morning

Stuck open
Usually a broken spring, a snapped cable or a door that's come off its track.
A car stuck inside
Most often the spring. Don't force the door to get the car out.
Won't close at night
Often the photo-eyes, knocked out of line or blocked by something in the beam. If they're clear, it's the opener's settings or the door.
Hanging crooked
A cable has let go, or a roller has jumped the track on one side.

The springs, cables, rollers and hinges most doors need are on the truck. A repair is usually one visit.

If you can't be there

Your tenant, a neighbor or the cleaner can let us in and show us the problem. You get an arrival window by text, and so does whoever is meeting us. Whoever lets us in doesn't approve the price. Only you do, by phone if you're not there.

What it costs at night

The price is the same at night. What moves it is which part failed and the door it's on. If we need to order a part, we tell you the price and the day first. You get the price in writing before any work, with the repair option first.

After an emergency repair

We make the repair, balance the door and test the safety reverse. Every repair carries 1 year on parts and labor, and it's printed on your receipt. Before we leave, every way in is tested by whoever is home, and the old parts leave with us.

Questions about emergency repair

Do I have to be home?

No. Someone else can let us in. The arrival window goes to both of you, and the price comes to you by phone.

The door slammed shut and won't open again.

Usually a snapped spring or cable, which lets the door fall. Leave it closed and stop pressing the button. Then call.

The door won't close and I have to leave.

Call before you go, and tell us who can meet us. Don't leave the opener pushing against a door that won't come down.
